Nothing is more beautiful than Springtime in Tuscany, Italy. The wild flowers burst into an array of bright colours, seemingly overnight, along with a long fresh variety of new grasses. In the foreground of the painting one can see brilliant red poppies, small yellow and white daisies and violets, and long grasses in spring green-blue colours, dark green shades, golden green colours and whips of wheat plants. In the middle ground you can observe a field of golden crops and above them a violet-mauve hill emerging, then suddenly a medieval hill town with reddish rooftops and little dirt roads which lead here and there and up a soft spring green hill which meets the blue sky. Very dark green evergreens provide an attractive balance.
