This painting expresses feelings of great loss of a loved one, human compassion and how we evolve spiritually to begin to see the light after a time of grieving. The intense black in the foreground represents the depth of the sadness while the flash of brilliant yellow provides the mourner with moments of hope. The first red roofed villa is shrouded by a thick stand of cypress trees which provide privacy. The use of dark and light varieties of green draws the eye upwards to the light. Blues, mauves and soft burnt sienna mingle and again carry us upward where we visit the second villa which has a much lighter demeanour bringing relief, which evolves into peaceful feelings. As we gaze even higher into the serene blue sky we feel the presence of the released spirit of the beloved one. The golden hill sets off the endless sky
