A whimsical portrayal of old Victorian row houses and townhouses prevalent in downtown Toronto painted with wild and stimulating colours under an exotic blue sky complete with wispy white clouds adding to the joyful ambience of the work. Each home has its own tiny front garden which has been carefully groomed to reinforce individuality and pride. The composition has an incredible array of brilliant colours which harmonize to create a warm joyful ambience which compels one to stay longer to absorb this unique view of Toronto. Toronto. A comical painting of four saucy, white geese walking towards a "Do Not Enter" sign, which happens to be white with a touch of red to match their expressive and determined feet. The greens in the painting range from deep earthy to brilliant French green and the contrasting light and shadow used in the painting are exaggerated to reinforce a feeling of humour and a light, cheerful and somewhat rebellious spirit. It is a hot and humid, August day in Toronto, and when you look into the painting you can feel the relaxing sensation of succumbing to the oppressive sun rather than resisting it. The warm pinkish-gold Victorian mansion is ensconced in overgrown plants which bring thoughts of plants "taking over” as in a jungle. The bright blue shutters, steps and ornate woodwork add an air of mystery and enchantment to the painting.
